What is DAX?

DAX is Pure C# Slim Static Site Generator. Single file Program.cs around 800 lines. No Node. No WASM. No hydration.

Inspired by CAX (C language) but rewritten for .NET so Windows users can use CMD native without MinGW or make.

Why DAX vs Others?

Blazor loads 512KB WASM plus framework folder. Boot time 2 seconds. Needs hydration. Heavy for blogs.

CAX is fast 50ms but needs gcc plus make. On Windows you need MinGW, MSYS2, PATH setup. Vercel has no GCC so build fails. Nested YAML depth 2 max, depth 3 segfault.

DAX is 50ms load like CAX, but CMD native, only needs .NET SDK 8 or 9. Unlimited nested YAML. Vercel and Netlify have dotnet preinstalled so build works 127ms.

Jekyll needs Ruby. Ruby on Windows is pain. DAX build 10x faster.

Blazor is for apps. DAX is for content.

Both use Axcora CSS CDN and clean custom css. No build, open directly in browser.

Requirements

Only .NET SDK

Windows download from dotnet.microsoft.com. macOS brew install dotnet at 9. Linux apt install dotnet-sdk-9.0.

Commands:

dotnet run -- build (11 pages in 127ms)

dotnet run -- start (http://localhost:8080/)

No gcc, no make, no node, no ruby.
